Meet Keith Ray, Denver Attorney

I started my career in a small firm in Dallas, Texas handling commercial cases primarily involving construction, aviation and real estate issues. Since returning to Colorado in 2000, my focus has been on large property subrogation, construction and other commercial cases. In 2005, I was one of five founding attorneys to open the Denver office of the national law firm of Lathrop & Gage LLP.

Then, in August of 2016, I opened The Ray Law Firm, LLC to bring the same level of commitment and expertise to clients in a more economical platform.

I have over 20 years of experience litigating complex commercial cases including subrogation, insurance coverage, construction, and various contract disputes. I have extensive experience managing a diverse caseload of litigation in federal and state courts throughout the United States. I have a proven track record of obtaining successful results for clients ranging from individuals to large insurance companies.

Full Keith Ray Profile

Growing up an Air Force brat allowed me the opportunity to live in multiple states and in England before graduating high school in Colorado. That exposed me to different cultures and ways of seeing and understanding things.

I went to Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado where I studied political science and was a member of the cross-country team. By the time I graduated from college, the Air Force brat in me was ready for another change of scenery, so I moved to Dallas, Texas to attend law school at SMU.

After graduating from law school, I started my career at a small law firm in Dallas handling commercial cases primarily involving construction, aviation and real estate issues. I also met my wife in Dallas and started a family.

I returned to Colorado in 2000 to work for the local office of Baker & Hostetler, LLP, a large, national law firm where my practice focused on subrogation, construction, and other commercial cases. Additionally, I was a Deputy Town Attorney for the Town of Bow Mar where I tried numerous traffic and other municipal court cases.

In 2005, I was one of five founding attorneys to open the Denver office of Lathrop & Gage LLP, now known as Lathrop GPM.

Then, in August of 2016, I left the big law firm world to open The Ray Law Firm, LLC where I continue to bring the same level of commitment and expertise to clients in a more economical platform and without the stringent requirements of a large firm that limit the types of clients and cases I can take on.

I have over 25 years of experience litigating complex commercial cases including a variety of subrogation, insurance coverage, construction, and other business-related disputes. I have extensive experience managing a diverse caseload in both federal and state courts across the country. I have a proven track record of obtaining successful results for clients of all sizes.

I enjoy helping people and businesses navigate the turmoil of legal and business disputes with other parties. As a small business owner myself, I understand the challenges faced by other small business owners and the importance of swift and economical resolutions for disputes which divert attention from the day to day business operations.

In addition to handling legal matters for clients, I have prepared and presented on legal topics including construction defects, contract provisions and interpretation and various issues concerning property subrogation, amongst others. I also have served, and continue to serve, on the board of directors of multiple local charitable organizations.

“We hired Keith Ray when dealing with a litigious contractor and Keith was incredibly helpful throughout the process. He educated us on legal rights and topics that are not general knowledge. Keith was understanding and answered our questions without judgement. We recommend him for anyone who needs assistance with any legal adversity. We ended up in a much better place after working with him.”

- Elaine M.

Keith is amazing! We have hired him for a variety of business needs. He always gives his honest opinion but also listens to your concerns and acknowledges them. He has a very calm demeanor in very stressful situations. We will definitely continue to hire him in the future. Definitely someone you want you want in your corner.

- Maddie J.

I would like to say Ray Keith did a terrific job in helping me win my case. Without his expertise I feel Iwould have never won the case and judgement. I am totally grateful Ray Keith was there for me.

- Linda M.

Keith Ray has been my attorney since around 2001 for business and personal matters. I find him to be very knowledgeable, honest and ethical. He represented my interests professionally at all times. He, also, listens completely to his client when it is sometimes hard for a client to communicate the issues and facts in a language that lawyers understand.
